During the interwar period, several photography studios operated in Leipalingis. The longest-working studio belonged to a resident of the town, Motiejus Volungevičius (1898–1964). He began to photograph at a young age, from 16, and engaged in his craft until the Second World War. During the Soviet period, private businesses were dissolved and his photography studio activity ceased. Being quite a hard-working person, Volungevičius did not limit himself to photography. He was known as an excellent timepiece repairman. Volungevičius lived in this house from 1925 to 1964.
