Leipalingis Manor’s distillery

The Leipalingis manor distillery building was built in the 19th century. It was an important source of income for the manor. In the Russian Empire of the 19th century, more than half of the state’s revenue came from the sale of alcohol. During the Soviet period, the Leipalingis starch factory operated here, producing starch, fruit juice and the raw ingredients for wine with an alcohol content of 16 per cent.
